ShowBizRadio.net loves live theater! And we want you to love the theater too! But how can you love it, if you don’t attend? Or can’t find one? Or aren’t sure what to expect? Our goal is to make it easier for you to support local live theater. We feature:
- a complete schedule of upcoming shows
- reviews of shows
- information about different theater groups in Virginia, Maryland, and Washington DC
- a cross referenced listing of the shows performed by groups in the DC region over the past 75 years
- audition schedule for upcoming shows
Ideally, we would love for you to attend a few shows, fall in love with live theatre and then get involved with a local theater. Most community theaters need all kinds of help, both on stage and backstage.
Staff
Laura Clark was born in Gainesville, FL. In 1979 her family moved to Southern California. It was in elementary school that Laura caught the acting bug. In high school, Laura performed in her school plays, including Mousetrap, Meip in the Diary of Anne Frank, Mrs. Pierce in Pygmalion, and Arsenic and Old Lace. Laura attended Virginia Tech and in 1993 graduated with a degree in Communication Studies. While in college, Laura was still able to get her fill of live theater by ushering for the traveling musicals that came through Blacksburg. In 2003, Laura appeared at the Northern Virginia Community College (Woodbridge Campus) performances of Lysistrata and Macbeth. Laura portrayed five different roles in Celebrate Virginia’s Thanksgiving 2007 production of Captain John Smith: HiStory of McLean and Great Falls and was the narrator in NWTG’s production of The Least Offensive Play in the Whole Darn World. Laura also serves as assistant stage manager.
Mike Clark was born in Newport News, Virginia. He graduated from Virginia Tech, with a Bachelor of Arts in Geography, and a Masters of Public Administration. Mike and Laura married in 1995, and moved to Northern Virginia in 1999. While attending Cherrydale Baptist Church, we led the Salt and Light drama ministry. Mike found that his talent was more in the director’s chair while Laura was drawn more to acting and performing. Mike directed the dramatic portions of the full-length Easter musical The Choice. We occasionally appear in plays (usually Christmas and Easter musicals) at Occoquan Bible Church in Woodbridge, Virginia. In October 2006, Mike appeared as Tom in William Saroyan’s The Time of Your Life, and wrote about the experience. Mike portrayed nine different roles in Celebrate Virginia’s Thanksgiving 2007 production of Captain John Smith: HiStory of McLean and Great Falls. Mike stage managed, designed sound, operated the sound board, and assisted with props and lighting design for NWTG’s summer 2008 productions of The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) and The Least Offensive Play in the Whole Darn World. He has also stage managed Bye Bye Birdie, My Fair Lady (CRT), The Miracle Worker (FCT), Pippin (PWLT), Rehearsal for Murder (PP), Arcadia (PWLT); designed and run sound for Shakespeare in Hollywood (NWTG); and ran lights for American Century Theater’s Seascape.
